Scoil Bhríde, Cannistown is a primary school located on the outskirts of St Mary’s parish, Navan.
Today (1 February 2019) there are 425 pupils in our school, 23 teachers (16 class teachers, 6 special educational teachers and the principal). Mrs Maura Durkin is the school Principal and Mr. Kevin Mullen is our Deputy Principal. Our secretary is Mrs Pauline O’Reilly and our caretaker is Paul McCabe. Fr Robert McCabe is our school chaplain.
We are very proud of the traditions in our school. Boys and girls are given every opportunity to experience a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular activities. We have a strong sporting tradition, especially in Gealic football, hurling, camogie, hockey and athletics.
We are particularly proud of our school grounds which are in the constant care of our caretaker Paul and the Green Schools committee.
Music and drama are an integral part of our school life. Musical performances and concerts are major highlights in our school calendar. Our children are encouraged to get involved in as much as possible such as instrumental performances, school choir, peace proms and plays. Sacramental preparation and our Catholic ethos also provide us with many opportunities for using our talents in the service of our community.
We welcome and encourage the co-operation and involvement of parents and guardians in the education of their children and acknowledge the significant benefits of effective partnership between school, home and the Board of Management.
