Bird’s Nest project

In the month of March we are mindful that the birds are building their nests. 4th Class decided to take on the experiment of building a bird’s nest. We soon realised how scientific it was! We were in groups of three or four and we collected materials at home and in school.

We used twigs, moss, hair (from a hairbrush), leaves, straw and some mud. We had to plan how we would each start the structure of the nest.

The next day, when the nests were dry and secure, we tested the sturdiness of the structure by putting a golf ball in the centre. The children thoroughly enjoyed this outdoor learning experiment!
